Citrix Review

Pro --> Tech Engineers: - Very few employees have good tech skills and like to stay as they already established reputation. They are 40+ & like their cushy software engineering job. Chillaxing in comfort zone bubble and enjoying the show as most other engineers are average/poor. - Some nice soft-spoken colleagues. HR\Benefits: - decent 401K - ok Health insurance - Random goodies C-suite management: - CEO trying his best to move company in right direction. - New EVP engineering looks ambitions. Don't know if he was involved in SolarWinds security issue and left company hi&dry. - Trying to buy and sell random companies(GoToMeeting, quirk etc.) to keep this ship floating. Amenities: - Free snacks. - Lot of parking space. - Nice office in Florida. - Tropical lifestyle. Close to beach & theme parks. - Less traffic as compared to big cities. Although crazy 'Florida man' driving. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Cons --> Tech Engineers: - Experience/college hires from outside company need to quickly align themselves to right manager otherwise nepotism will consume them. - Working conditions heavily dependent on your managers. - Mostly WLB is hell during pandemic. 2-5 managers prioritizing your work. All managers including EVP send email with pri0. Drop everything and work on this now! then few more emails for correcting last emails. Low/mid level Manager: - They have very less skills to manage a team. - Puppets of Sr managers. They have to play heavily on favoritism to continue surviving as manager. - Nepotism run deep. White Sr manager promote white employee. South Indian promote same species. - 1st kind: managers are good as typist and 90% of time utilized in typing minutes of meeting for every random conversation. Then rest 10% time used to rewrite same document to make them look good or throw others under the bus. - 2nd kind: Helicopter managers. They can pull you anytime in online meeting and justify it Urgent Pri0 matter, so you have to leave everything and work on it. But freedom of speech is not granted. You will be instructed that you doesn't need to contribute but just share screen and follow instruction. - 3rd kind: They are soft spoken but master level expert in back stabbing. Upper Level (Director/VP) Manager: - Very arrogant and shutdown any new ideas. - No new product introduced in years. Not interested in innovation. Just keep this shop running until it fails or someone buy. - Highly insecure and use all their time to play politics. They know after spending years in citrix they cant compete in outside world. - Randomly assign projects to tech guys and change priority every week. - Few of them already killed companies(Motorola solutions etc) in past and landed here as no one hire them. - Nepotism is way of life. E.G: Relative of VP is on leave for 2 years and got instant promotion once join back. - In terms of showcasing work, Mostly busy with re-org planning every 4 months. HR Policy: - Mandatory company wide PTO deducted for dates decided by HR. - No trust on employees and all documents need to be signed with termination clause. E.G: if bitlocker is not installed on your computer then you will be terminated. - No sick leave. It is considered as vacation PTO. - only 5 Carry Forward PTO. If not used then you loose all except California state as they have better laws. - Employees treated like asset and can be disposed anytime. - Fire employees 1 day before RSU vesting dates. - No morale event since last 2 years. C-suite management: - Already cashed shares during peak of pandemic and knows company will go downhill if pandemic is over. - Trying to onboard cloud train but years behind. - Already positioned company for selling to others multiple times but failed. - Firing rate is very high at all levels and for random reasons. Haha, wtaf. Five days of carryover PTO. This is news to me. So I have to take my usual end-of-year PTO like right now. The recruiter also sold me the mandatory PTO as a "company shutdown"; little shit. I heard about the politics and stagnation here, but that's every megacorp, it seems. Also, TC?
