I’ve been freelance for several years and in that time my work has won several awards (legit ones, too, not pay to play stuff). I serve on several committees for high profile organizations and I’ve spoken as an expert all over the world. My client base includes big name companies. But I’m really burned out on being freelance and want to go in house for a while, and can’t seem to get any offers. Was I foolish to assume that teaching at big name institutions and winning awards would mean anything in my job search? I’m super frustrated and wondering where to go from here…
What roles are you targeting? My guess is you're not targeting the functional hiring managers enough and are getting rejected by Frontline recruiters who screen by brand of employer
Executive producer and creative director roles and I always get internal referrals first.
