Google Recruiting now?
So Google has contacted me (on LinkedIn) so not even sure it’s legit. Wtf? Isn’t everyone laying off? Edit: Should clarify am not an SWE, more Data Scientist/ML Edit2: to be clear am trying to ascertain whether this is a phishing expedition by Google to understand what numbers Goldman people are getting and what bonuses have been post layoff, if there’s a hiring freeze and this is backup candidates being lined up for roles whenever opens , or if actually roles open.
Do you really think every company just completely shuts down hiring?
Nah but assumed recruiting stops, I.e hiring freezes. There’s also having candidates in backup lines to fill roles in case something opens up. My question is which is this.
There is never such thing as a full hiring freeze is what I’m saying. I’m hiring right now. Not a generic candidate but one with a very niche set of skills and experiences. Company is in a freeze though.
Best case-you pass interviews all sh with L5 or greater, will get offer in ~3 months(probably) Most probable good - pass interviews but either l3/l4 or not SH for all, will wait in pipeline for min 6 months, maybe a year And the last one - u don't pass interviews, reapply next year They contacted for interview for a year, including hiring freeze, they just pick the best
I’m getting calls though
I’m in team match. There are very few open roles according to my recruiter. But I just did interviews last week. I do not have hope for it, and I would recommend that you keep it at a minimum too.
which level are you interviewed?
I’ve been waiting for team match since September - my recruiter says it might be a while until more positions are open and available

There's no freeze, just restricted headcount. Critical positions are still being filled.
Pretty sure a DS/ML role wouldn’t be crucial?
Depends on the team. I wouldn't rule it out. Prep hard for the interview, give it your best. But be prepared that even if you did your best the right role just may not be open. Sucks but it is what it is at the moment. It may not be you it's us.
I'm team matched and waiting for VP approval. I still didn't get it because HC is super low, and VP is still deciding whether to approve or not. And they contact other people for interviews? Did Google recruiters go crazy?
