Adult ADD update

I wanted to provide an update from my older thread last year: ADHD/ADD symptoms - psychiatrist recommendation? ( https://us.teamblind.com/s/5PCnXAvO ). I hope someone here finds it useful. I avoided going to a shrink and decided to try some herbal remedies that were suggested to me through PM & family. So far, I've been taking them for about 3 months & have found them to work well. I started with Ashwagandha & Bacopa Monierri. They've both worked very well. I feel my concentration has improved, anxiety has lowered, and sleep has improved. I can't measure the first two, but sleep has definitely improved according to Fitbit. I also tried Gingko Biloba, but did not find any noticeable difference after 6 weeks so stopped it. If you're planning to take these, ymmv, do your research on the side effects. I decided to continue since long term side effects of herbal remedies seemed lower than Adderall. Start with a single herb for 6-8 weeks to see how they work. Most of these do not act immediately, so give it at least 6 weeks before giving up or deciding to continue. Reddit is a great source to learn the basics of nootropy, but do your research on side effects from more reputable sources such as WebMD or your doctor. While Reddit is good, I do tend to see some bandwagon effect there, so be cautious reading this fanboy/fangirl threads. Amazon is a good source to purchase these herbal. Vitacost carried bulk packages that I purchased after trying out for 6 weeks. Ashwagandha is readily available in many Indian grocery stores in the bay area. Thanks to everyone who replied. If this works long term (too early to say), I'm glad I did not get on Adderall!

Sorry for the naive question but you seem very well aware. What is the side effects of adderall and why do you think it's bad? My best friend is on it for years now and he seems ok.

folks here messaged me about withdrawal symptoms. WebMD has several others listed.

Funny, but do you've to troll even here?

I've taken Adderall XR, Strattera, Vyvanse in various combinations for 10 years. I'm quite well-versed on the topic. Mrs Nutella #4 is also an ADDer. ADDers get divorced a lot more often than non-ADDers, especially those who are married to non-ADDers. I've suffered all my life with this. I've developed a keen sense of humor as a result. If someone's behavior on Blind is that of an ADDer, it's CLEARLY me. I have nothing but respect for ADDers.

Dude. I just got a script for adderall (properly diagnosed). Been on it for almost four months. After you get past the euphoria (yes it goes away) the stuff really works. Get on a super low dose. I've been on and off adhd meds for over 10 years and will tell you first hand that those drugs are a godsend for ADHD. There's also non-stimulant medication that can work. I tried the herbal route for a few months. Really the answer here is working out. That will give you the best relief, not some stupid tea. Add a small dose of adderall xr and you'll see a huge difference

thanks, that's helpful. Workout is definitely something I need to incorporate into my routine. I have Adderall as a backup if the herbs don't work. for now, placebo or not, they seem to give me the necessary focus. I do have a referral for shrink from my doctor, but I may wait few more months to see if the herbs & workouts are enough.

working out is definitely the only thing that works with no negative effects. Be careful with amphetamines, the sleep it takes from you will come back to bite you if you're not super dilligent about it.

Has anyone successfully been prescribed Desoxyn? It gets prescribed in the most extreme cases. Desoxyn = Meth. Yup, the breaking bad stuff.

Microsoft msfttt Mar 15, 2017

I've always wondered how the hell you would fill that prescription.
