Hey guys, So I’m currently working at a SaaS startup geared towards law firms, insurance, & healthcare. It’s my first job in tech sales (previously was an Loan Officer but my whole branch got laid off in June). They started me at 50 base 75 OTE and said I’d likely move to AE within a year starting 75 base 100 OTE. It’s only been 3 months but I’m considering leaving. I’ve essentially been an assistant, building lead lists for our VP of sales (who got hired same time as me) and sitting in on demo meetings. No training so I took the vendition intro course and read The Qualified Sales Leader to get familiar. I keep asking my VP when I’ll start cold calling (I’m eager to) or at least for some scripts so I can practice/role play, but something always comes up or he changes the conversation to some other list of leads to build and it’s getting old. I Going from my mortgage job where I was making 100+ out bounds a day to zero at this point is dull. I don’t want to get rusty on the phone and building lists on ZoomInfo is getting old. Part of me wants to wait it out til at least 6months, or stay til a year and see if I can get promoted to AE before jumping somewhere else so I can apply for AE positions, but I also feel like I’m missing out on training and skill development I should be learning in this position. It’s also fully remote which is nice. I’m based in Irvine (SoCal) but have come to like wfh. I’m thinking of researching the Cybersec/Cloud/IT field or any company that’s a little bigger since they’re likely to do better during a recession & actually have training and leadership/mentoring. So should I wait it out til 6 or 12 months so I have a SaaS position on my resume? Or jump ship asap? And if I should jump, is anyone looking to refer a new, hungry SDR/AE? Ideally with some structure/room for growth/opportunity to learn. YOE: 6yr+ retail sales, 6mo MLO, 3mo “SDR” TC: 75k #sales #ae #sdr #bdr #saas
Put it on the resume
Start applying and interviewing now. If you don’t find something just chill for the holidays. Start looking again in January.
Yeah that’s what I was leaning towards. Do you think I should even update/include this current SDR position in my resume? Or just keep it as is and just mention it in conversation for any interviews I may get?
I would put it on there just to be transparent. Whatever you do make sure your LI matches your resume.
