I’ve been doing research on electric cars. I care more about the financial aspect of a lease. I live in NJ and there’s no sales tax on EVs. The monthly cost of Model Y long range is around $500 per month assuming 0 down, which comes to $1,8000 total cost for a 36 month lease. And there’s no buyout option. I also did some research on LeaseHackr and found a lot of dealers provide great loaner deals on Mercedes EQE series. Below is a loaner deal I found for EQE 350X4 with 3500 mileage. The cost is only around $1,9000 on 36 month lease. I’m not against putting a bit down to make monthly payment of that EQE 350X4, exactly the same as MY. Is there any concerns getting great loaner deals from LeaseHackr? With similar price, I can get a much more luxurious car with much less road noise, way better suspension, etc Edit: My daily use of my car is 5 minutes drive to the train station 4 days per week. We go grocery shopping once per week and round trip is 60 miles at most. We do have a gas car as a backup if we need to drive long hours. If you were me, which would you choose? TC: 450K
Yes the Mercedes is nicer but how are you going to charge it on long trips. The one big thing I notice a lot of people overlooking is usability of electric cars. The EQS/E doesn’t have a supercharging network and the third-party charging stations are not well maintained or useable (much slower than superchargers). Now this may depend on where you live too (I’m in NJ and they’re horrible). The supercharging network where I am is amazing, decently cheap and fast - $15 for 80% charge or about 330miles, 12-15min charging time - charging speed depends on the model you buy btw! - I have a 2022 Model S long Range. Consider the charging aspect and how much you will use the car. If you need more usability, go Tesla, if you want a city/local cruiser, go with Mercedes. Also electric cars, buy them used or lease (which you will be - good call OP). These cars tank in value super quickly. I own a 2022 Model S Long Range, but have considered other cars as they are built better (EQS/Taycan) and much nicer, however the supercharging network is the biggest value add for any electric car and hence why I chose my Tesla. I take regular 150-200mile trips to visit family/cousins/travel. I have a home charging system as well costs around $20ish more a month.

Then enjoy the Mercedes - it’s a gorgeous car!
