USCIS released an interesting piece of stat today, highlighting how many are in the backlog in terms of Form I-140 petitions approved with both STEM & non-STEM occupations. Specifically, it shows the # of petitions approved but awaiting visa by beneficiary country of birth, location, & decade of birth. To summarize, almost 80% of the people are already in their early 40s to 50s waiting in line for the Green card. Eventually within the coming decade, major chunk of those 80% will move out of the backlog due to retirement , career change/switch, layoff, death, go to other country or get greened due to other reasons. https://twitter.com/USCIS/status/1778030175315542507
why will 80% move out of backlog for these reasons? it will be more like 10%
🤣
OP you are funny. 40-50 year olds will die in a decade? You don’t know the will of the backlogged people. They will work till 90-100 but will take the GC before calling it quits. So no, the queue won’t be cleared on its own.
No company will keep you till you are 90-100 lol. Ageism is real if you are on W2. Which everyone on backlog are. All those who are in their 50-60 will be replaced by their younger counterparts. Sucks but it’s the truth. Deal with it
Why won’t a company keep me at 90-100? If I am delivering value and can do LC. They will keep me. Also, I won’t ask high pay. Just give L4/L5 level. They will happily keep. Ageism is real only if the person doesn’t learn and keep up with times.
Cope harder.
There is no coping. It’s the law of nature. New replaces the old. No company is gonna keep you when you are in your late 50s especially if you are on a visa
Ok
So you think you will end up with GC because those before you will leave the queue 😂
Yeah it’s the law of nature? New replaces the old. Backlog is because of the wave of tech boom in US from 2010-2019. those people are about to get aged out from the industry. You know in 2007 every country was current in the visa bulletin right?
Most of them will get their GC in 21 years post kid. Age does not matter
It’s possible. Many of them will receive through their kids or find some other way. They won’t go back that’s for sure. This is how the queue advances every few years. But the rate is still slower than needed and will mean 20-25 years of wait for people after pd 2013. The problem is that new people are finding ways to cut into eb1 through eb1b or c. So your backlog isn’t caused by just people already in the queue. It’s also caused by new people constantly cutting into the queue by moving from eb2/3 to eb1 or directly going to eb1c through international manager role.
You can remove me from the queue. I just married USC.
How does that change anything for me if by the time my chance comes, i would also fall in the retirement , career change/switch, layoff, death, go to other country or get greened due to other reasons category?
You got me
