Hello canadian friends. I'll be entering the U.S. on my TN visa when I start work in July, and was planning to enter through the Niagara Falls border. This would be so I can bring my pc and some other stuff along to get dropped in NYC. However, a family friend of mine had his TN rejected when crossing from the Niagara Falls border, and so my brother advised entering through JFK, since the airport TSA probably has more experience with TN visas than land border security. Do you guys think it's risky to cross from the land border at Niagara falls? I don't mind taking the flight, in fact it's much cheaper, but I wouldn't be able to bring all the stuff I want (specifically my pc lmao) ty #immigration #tn #visa #canadian
Well if thatās the case then fly to JFK first and get TN visa, and then go back to Canada and move to US via niagara falls border. When you cross the 2nd time you already have TN visa so I expect very little trouble
Thereās more to the story, he likely didnāt meet the qualifications for the TN or didnāt have his documentation in order. If anything, land crossings are easier.
Not always. When you cross the US border to get TN visa as a software engineers, depending on the border or the CBP agent you meet, they may give you a lot of trouble on how Software Engineer is not a real Engineer and may not fit into Engineering category of TN, or how CS degree isnāt suitable for Engineering profession, etc I had similar issue many years back
I know that memo. Even that memo CBP agent pointed out and told me it was wrong. So I was like š¤Æš¤Æš¤Æ
Border control at niagara is terrible, when I went through there for a pre employment drug test they stopped me and said I had made up the job offer and wouldn't offer me the visa. They even reached out to my company's legal department to ensure the job offer was valid.
I never tried niagra, but jfk and montreal were really nice.
I have done it twice( land and airport) with no issues, so I recommend you have your documents ready and u should be ok. The agent, did not even ask many questions.
I did my L1 at Niagara. No issues at all
For flying in, USA border control won't be at JFK. It will be at Toronto preclearance.
Go to designated tn visa processing centres in business time. Check the website
No. I mean as long as you dont bring a gun or weed should be ok š
