Hello folks, what’s your thoughts on joining a video interview and interviewer turning off the camera but you turn it on and talk to the blank screen, Anyone experienced this ? I just had interview with US bank last week on site, entire team turned off camera on all the sessions, is that a good practice. Personally I hated it.
I prefer to turn my camera off. Doesn't really matter what the other person does.
Happened with me during the loop with Qualcomm. Was super weird but I was able to exude confidence with the camera ON so it helped me land an offer. My rule: Phone interviews- unless the interviewer turns ON his camera, I don’t do it myself. Loop interviews - I always keep the camera ON
I had multiple interviews where they turned off their screen, It made the interview more stressful as the information you get from facial expressions are missing (not sure how to explain it otherwise) but it made it way more difficult
That’s exactly my point is, what’s the point of having a video interview if interviewer wants to turn off the camera !! They could have just called over phone!!
flip the bird on each question. if challenged say oh thought my camera was off
I don't mind the interviewer turning on or off the camera i always keep camera on coz i look good and i want to show off 😂
They should have their camera on.
Haha creepy
I don't want to turn on my webcam. It is really annoying when the other person turns on the cam. I tell them that I have network issues and need to keep my webcam turned off!
personally i would not hire anyone that refused to use webcam. nor would i work anywhere if interviewer had theirs off
It happened to me once so I also just turned my camera off.
