Synapse design is owned by quest global. Looking for some advice on working for a small hardware consulting company called synapse design. I want to learn rtl design, and I want to learn how to do it well. Current working at Intel. This is a level up and something I want to do which is rtl/digital design. There aren’t very many reviews on synapse design and it looks like a desi hardware consultant company. Looking to learn and have real rtl design marketable skills. 6 YOE Synapse offer: Base: 180k Yearly bonus: 5k Tc: 185k Intel: Base:110k Bonus:10k Rsu :10k Tc:130k #hardware #semiconductor
I am working at synapse since 4.5 years. It’s purely service based company. I would suggest choose product company for better growth and money both.
Sure..

Dhruv Rathee speaks lies about Ch. Shivaji Maharaj
What do you do at Intel? If you aren’t a digital designer, it might be a good opportunity to start. Annual bonus is surprisingly low for a high base salary. Design houses may have bad work life balance. Try to understand as much as possible from your chats with people in the team and hiring manager.
Thanks for the reply. I’m currently an soc designer/Integrator. Going to different roles laterally have been like pulling teeth. It looks like the market is hotter for DVs or at least the skills translate better than my current work experience. The current project they have is working is with meta (facebook). The interview was me writing a synchronous fifo. The tech lead talked a lot about integrating multiple IPs and making them communicate across multiple clock domains. I think it’ll be really great to get my foot in the door for rtl design. I think it’ll be fine having bad wlb for a year or two for the experience and then hop. It seems like they only hire senior level engineers.
Sounds like you'll be in integration at both places? The thing with consultant gigs is that while you'll get to see a lot of varied profiles, you don't get to necessarily choose a particular profile. To remain billable (and thus on the payroll), you must take whatever is offered because a ton of other firms are angling for the same contract. Rinse, repeat for 6-7 years (each contract lasts 1-2 yrs) and you might just feel completely powerless because of having no control over shaping your career.
