have been helping my wife with her small business. when i was at Meta, there were so many ppl / processes going into researching small businesses, designing sales programs and the incentives for the sales agents (Marketing Pro) who spoke with advertisers, demand gen marketing, so on. everything seemed so grand and exciting and revenue driving. maybe this was true, maybe it was koolaid drinking, maybe it was workplace grandstanding/empire maintenance. recently took a call from a "Marketing Pro" for my wife's business... and i had to laugh. seems like others have felt the same. i admit myself + Reddit is a small sample size, so curious if any other blinders have had a chance to interact with one.
Yeah if you are unfortunate to not spend enough to be in one of the sales segments which get their own dedicated account team, then you are going to get the Meta Pros. They are awful. I work closely with them and I feel they probably turn off more potential advertisers than anything.
i loved how research would quote each other (Last Name, 2019) like a workplace post is a scholarly paper imagine the advertisers that aren't in sales segments - they get blasted emails with recommendations oh well - as long as a team shows irev... it's really crazy how things work a culture of fear & empires set by some executives across product, marketing, and sales led to "peers" always trying to outdo one another and a lot of scope wars; i'm sure @ this point, there's some new roadmap template that demands the same exercise of interpret as you please and come up with new, overly complicated processes and 50 page canonicals
In my experience, setting up FB and Insta business account is a nightmare. The business tools you guys build are not easy to work with. It is like, someone implemented a recursion without a base case. It will complain about a some settings back and forth 😭
can confirm as a former pro that whoever designed our incentive model is .. no comment reddit search the thread - LPT from a former Meta Marketing Pro (Facebook Marketing Expert) they kept changing things, our incentive model - even turning off what we'd previously pitched w/e pays the bills, i never questioned it :D ask your next one about Instant Experiences. there's a big chunk of advertisers who don't utilize it, which means your MP will likely have no idea what you're talking about.
oh come on - it's sales people, selling themselves on WP. the reality + what smb advertisers feel: "It’s basically a service for a human to read you the advertising FAQs." "They’re underpaid, overworked and undertrained.. it’s a miserable dead end call centre job with very strict KPI’s and penalties if they aren’t met. Source: my friend used to manage two big centres in the Philippines but resigned due to how poorly they treated staff." "Over the last 3 years I have found only 2 competent people during the calls." (there are numerous Reddit threads on "Meta Pros"). It doesn't matter as long as if someone says "We delivered iRev!" on WP. Same applies to the Marketing orgs (of which there are waaay too many). The empire(s) will keep growing.
Que?
