Does salesforce reduce pay if you start in sf office and move elsewhere to another state? what is the salary range for an engineer at smts level working remotely?
They have a COL adjustment depending on where you are. If you are remote in bay area it will match SF salary
This makes more sense
Any idea about smts salary in an area close to Atlanta? Do they take back stock grants?
Join SF/Seattle team and then move to wherever you want. You’ll have a chance of getting better RSUs
RSU doesn’t matter where you join. You can negotiate well if you have competing offers. Base changes a lot.
RSU definitely matters where you join. If you join in San Francisco, you will get more RSUs than joining in Dallas for example. Also, RSUs matter with function - Product Engineering/Management get more RSUs than CSG for example
I think it depends on the manager. I was offered a position in Dallas but deferred because I didnt want to relocate there.
when did you get deferred to? Same situation
It depends on the situation and manager. Most of the time yes for col adjustment but I know some folks in Portland making same as sf salary
They may not adjust, however your band will change and it will impact your raises.

Does salesforce hire directly for remote? Or do you have to start at an office?
There are remote options. Most managers are ok with that. My team 2 folks are total remote. They used to come once a week from San Jose to SF. They stopped that as well since last 6 months
