background: I've been in an SDET role for about 7 years, but 2 years ago I transferred internally to a montioring/tools/devops team. Also for the last 2 years I was in an SDET role I was mostly focused on tools development as it relates to quality engineering. Fast forward to now, I accept a position with Disney Streaming. Title is senior SDET, and their level designation for this is p3. I've been at this role for 5 weeks, and I've had access to the code base for a little over 3. I've worked on a couple tasks, which required some heavy editing on PR because of team standards, and because I'm rusty on some stuff. Also I'm less familar with their preferred language (they use python and it's my 4th or 5th most used language professionally.) In both cases my manager busted my chops a bit for not finishing the work fast enough. Am I bad or is this toxic? I don't think it matters but base is 145 and TC is about 220 once my RSUs fully vest (190ish this year and increasing over 4 years.) edit to add: this is LA area.
Disney is going down the drain with their queer characters and the scandals they got themselves into. I say you run.
i hate interviewing but i'm leaning toward this. the culture wars would be whatever to me but its kind of weird that Disney is picking culture wars with their character development, then cozying up to Desantis in Florida because they want the tax breaks.
Disney Streaming is toxic to work at, but "Disney is going down the drain with their queer characters" is a pathetic take. Disney having some LGBT characters in their thousands of IPs doesn't affect the workplace whatsoever. Right wing, woke obsessed snowflakes are the most easily offended people on the planet.
