How much can senior engineering manager (16 yrs experience with 2 yrs of management) expect as base and stock in a non-faang company in NYC?
Should be less than a principal level engineer. Has been the case for my managers over my past 10 years. Unless they like, but I trust them
At Bloomberg, $300k-$400k+ in base salary plus annual bonus
Is this for a manager managing other managers? What about first level managers?
The range for first level eng managers (Aka team leads or TL's) at Bloomberg is $250k-$350k+, which tops out with similar comp to the highest paid IC's. Since you said "senior manager," I gave the range for 1 level above TL. There are at least 3 levels of management above that, since Bloomberg is such a massive company with 19k employees.
What is fanng?
Facebook, Apple, Amazon, Netflix and Alphabet’s Google.
So you only need 2 years of management experience to be a senior manager?
Senior title varies a lot at companies. Team size and whether you are manager of manager matters more.
