Hey all, I’m planning to join HubSpot as a PM soon and wanted to get some insight into the current culture and WLB. Some of the reviews here and on glassdoor are making me nervous. Appreciate your help! #hubspot #hubspotculture
Which team are you joining ?
I think it’s overall a nice place to work with good WLB. Recently sentiment has been very negative due to layoffs. Also, performance reviews are taken more seriously and have gone through many changes, which has upset a lot of people. Getting a 3 rating is supposed to be considered “meeting high expectations”, but it’s a natural human tendency for people to want 4s and 5s (to be above average). The reality is most people will get 3s and that hasn’t settled well across the company, it seems. For me personally it’s been a very chill job (im in engineering, been here 3 years).
Hi, Does high perf culture mean PIP quotas? Curious as I plan on joining soon. How often are the perf reviews?
@hOWE - there is not a quota for PIPs as far as I know. High performance culture really means higher expectations and more output. Performance reviews happen twice a year. I wouldn’t worry too much though. Feel like HubSpot is just going through many changes rn and it will take time for things to settle.
IDK what they’re saying on Glassdoor but I skimmed the reviews on Blind and they all pretty much match up with my experiences and what I’m hearing from others internally
The culture is fine. Like in many companies, it depends on your group. But if you don’t like your group, there is the option of internal mobility. WLB in product is great. You definitely don’t need to work outside the standard 9-5 and in most cases, can treat Fridays as half days (due to “no meeting Fridays). I personally get by working 10-4
Thank you for the inputs everyone! Appreciate it!
The culture used to be great but now it's just like any other company in corporate. Not horrible but definitely not the shining example it used to be.
