should I get my masters?

I am considering getting my masters online for business analytics. my long term goal is to get into product management. (been unsuccessful at finding entry-level PM roles) I’ve been unemployed for 9 months. In those months, I’ve completed the Python track for data science on dataquest and datacamp. I also completed few coursera classes and I am volunteering. I am good at SQL and Python. I’ve been applying to Business analyst/Product Analyst and Data Analyst roles. Its been very difficult to break in. Now, I am thinking with some of my savings and help from parents I can afford to do masters online. yoe: almost 2 years. (BA & Consultant), CS major.

Worth getting a masters in analytics IMO. Build a portfolio of work you have done, even if it’s not from a place you worked in. I.e write some code and create some interesting projects for yourself and then have a site describing that work and showcasing it somehow. Make sure you have all of this work listed out on LinkedIn too. That might get you a better chance at interviews for the roles you’re after.

A degree from WGU is barely worth the paper you’d wipe with - the one exception being government roles where they legitimately couldn’t care less as long as you tick the box.

Have you sought feedback from interviews? Also, have you applied to any junior BA roles? Would be helpful to get an understanding of your SQL knowledge as well. Instead of getting into debt and sacrificing a year or two to have a master’s, I would get a junior role at a startup to get more valuable experience with SQL/BI/Python
