Recently I applied for a sales job from a company I worked for over 16 years. I left on good terms. I went down to the corporate office and interviewed with the head of sales. The interview went well and and I was told that the job will be available in about a month and I can work out of the local office near my home. i sent him an email thanking him taking the time for sitting down with me and that I am indeed interest in the sales job. I got an out of office responce so I waited about a week and a half to follow up and to see if they were interested in hiring me. He did not respond. i do not want to keep Emailing so not to harrass him. Not sure if I should just call. Should I continue to follow up or just move on?
You have nothing to lose by following up. And he may have genuinely missed the email
Call and leave a vm
Once weekly should be ok, and if not then you don't wanna work there...
Did you work with a recruiter? I'd say ask them for a status.
I've hired lots of salespeople and not constantly following up after is a reason I would pass on some candidates. If you're in sales you should never be shy about following up and asking for what you want!
I hear what you are saying. Thanks for the feedback. No, I did not work with a recruiter. My attitude is if they really wanted me they would have followed up or replied to my email. You see, I am not desperate but thought it might be a good opportunity after having a 16 year experience with this company. I will however try one more time. Thanks again. Good advice all.
