I've joined Amazon as L5 ops manager in Vancouver. planning to quit after 7 months. worried if Amazon takes payback seriously ! if you've experienced similar situation please suggest!
Expect to pay it back, especially since that’s what you signed in your contract.
Just get PIP, you won't have to pay anything back and you get severance as well. Steps: 1. Give very bad Connections feedbacks 2. Signal that you're the one giving bad feedbacks 3. Mention in your 1-on-1 that you're looking to switch team 3. Get dev-listed 4. Ask manager to expedite PIP 5. Walk out with severance 💰
Thanks for the suggestion! But I'm in operations management... When I mentioned that I wanted to switch to corporate...I was turned down... I'm doing pretty well till now...not sure how to go worse all of a sudden
It's pretty easy to fail the Earn Trust LP. Challenge your manager in meetings, compare them to other managers. Be nice to the rest of the team though, don't make life harder for them.
Make management not like you. You’ll get put on a pivot very quickly and not have to pay back the sign on at least. I know what I did was simply do exactly to them what they would do to me. It was pretty easy. Sending follow up emails to their manager if they don’t follow up in 5 minutes really irked them. As well as sending emails with 50 incoherent questions and asking the same questions that were answered 5 minutes ago. Trying to think of other crazy management practices I saw... I guess you could also make fun of their appearance and call them fat/too skinny. I just did a fee of these back, took an unpaid LOA, and got pivoted right after I got back :)

All companies do. They don’t like giving away money they don’t have to. They even have a staff of lawyers to make sure they don’t have to.
