It’s the worst toy ever. I’m not saying don’t have a few but many of us end up with more than we should. Most of them now are one-time use with custom designs and can’t be reused/rebuilt like they were before - they pollute. Pieces are made with hard plastic and will last a lifetime and will continue to be there even after you are long gone - not shareable. It’s not like you can pass them down since they are no longer a standard set, so more and more will be produced and sold to kids new to this world - one-time. It’s played mostly for a few years then a kid is grown out of them and moved on, but the pieces will be around and occupying precious living space forever until they are discarded as garbage - mess. How often do you have to clean up or step on ‘carpet land mines’? They are impossible to get organized if they are not put together or broken apart by accident - cost. This is the ultimate waste of money given how well the fucking company positions itself as the ‘educational toys’ but ignores the economic and environmental cost to all At the end, Lego is in the business of making as much money as possible. All the propaganda about the benefits can be achieved through other means without the costs. So fuck you #lego
Lego can be used forever. My sister and I spent probably 1000s of hours playing with my collection as children, most of which was second hand/older than me. Now my neice and nephew play with it all the time. You never throw away lego as it's worth quite a bit in bulk second hand, even unsorted. Kinda weird post. Focus your rage on other plastic toys that are single/limited use, not lego. Or plastic water bottles/coffee cups/etc that are legitimately pointless.
Thanks for sharing your experience. Kudos for getting the most out of your legos!
Magnatiles all the way for us, it’s quiet therapeutic for all ages imo and endless creative play.
I agreed with the older sets since they are standardized, but the newer ones are more proposed built and hard to reuse for anything else but for a specific design
Bro stepped on his kids Lego and frustrated
More times than I can count, yes 😆
You are an adult now buying adult Lego sets that are one time use correct! Who would ever take the Eiffel Tower set apart? There are still classic legos that you can build and disassemble and rebuild…. Lego has nailed the adults market of former kids that have grown up playing and loving legos!
I had some of the original space Lego sets from the 1980s and saved them for my kids, who destroyed them. Don’t ever assume that any given toy will mean as much to your kids as it meant to you. Also, OP needs to take a deep breath, and maybe have a drink or three.
Cheers to that. I’ll have a drink on my sofa filled with Lego pieces next to my dining table with full of half-built Lego models, then tiptoe back to my room with more Legos on the floor.
Lego is a great toy because of the variability it offers. My kids were insanely excited to get a dollhouse but the repeatability was limited and they always turn back to toys like Lego that offer variation.
wish I still had my legos was so relaxing as a kid to sit in my room building random stuff
From all the toys that pollute my apartment Legos are most played with. My kids spent more time playing with Lego than any other toy they ever got. Not to mention that getting and building a Lego is a highlight of Christmas.
