Finding my first job in the US semiconductor industry

I'm actually posting for my wife. She just came to the US and received her EAD card. No sponsorship needed. Now she's trying to find a job in IC design and layout. Her previous work experience in Taiwan: * Analog and mixed signal layout engineer at MediaTek for 2 yrs. Taped out 6 projects, including 3/5/7 nm FinFet. * Display design engineer at Innolux for 2 yrs. Since I'm working in software industry, I'm not familiar with job hunting in semiconductor industry. She has applied to all relevant openings (mixed signal design, layout, and display engineer roles) on company websites and try to find referrals as many as possible. I think with her experience, there should be an okay job market fit. But she only got 1 interview invitation after 2 weeks and she's feeling a bit depressed. Is this common? Any insights about the hiring timelines? (I feel like interview process in semiconductor can be slow.) Anything that she can do to get more interviews? Any general advice, insights, thoughts, or referrals would be appreciated!!! #hardware #semiconductor #nvidia #apple #intel #qualcomm #broadcom #meta #amd #micron #cadence #synopsys #mediatek #tsmc #samsung #onsemiconductor #marvell #kla

1 invitation in 2 weeks is not bad given the current situation. Please keep applying, you will find more opportunities

MediaTek has huge presence in San Jose and hiring aggressively. Sounds like a good spot to get started then change as needed later 2 weeks ? That sounds like too little time in current market to get depressed about. Lots of jobs on linkedin and should be used. IC design also have good recruiter base for many years and i can recommend some if needed. They only hire IC design engineers for companies. Old school recruiters

She did receive messages from head hunters, but mostly for contractor positions unfortunately... Dm you for good recruiters.
