Is it foolish for an individual to move from Rivian to Lucid? Both companies are in a dump right now in their own sense. The offers are similar for both companies although RSUs wise Lucid is offering more. TC: 120K
I say Lucid is more stable? Did you see the R2 from Rivian? If you know anything, then just compare that R2 to competition in the market now. Ask yourself if R2 can really sell in high-volume like Model Y. Everyone is suffering except Tesla to sell EV. If R2 fails to track buyers, then Rivian is in deepshit. Lucid is not selling well either, but Lucid got deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeepass pocket oil sugar daddy.
Dude Rivians balance sheet is like 10x better than Lucid’s. Saudis also invested in Rivian so not really sure why you think that.
I think both can raise non stop but it will eliminate any share value over time
I would say yes just because your RSU price would be extremely low. There's more upsides starting with low price RSUs. I'm not sure who's going to survive out of the 2.
Rivian products are better
Lucid in a heartbeat I’m trying to move there. Better leadership, better path forward,
Bull shit! We feel the same about Rivian!
I just left Lucid. I'm not sure what you heard but it might just be "greener on the other side" thinking. Both are doing bad but at least Rivian is selling their trucks and the refreshed R1 will be gross margin positive. Lucid only has the Saudis for now (Gravity may sell well but who knows).
100K sales vs 200
Rivian doesn’t have 100k sales….i think closer to 70k
What level? Hw or SW? What are the RSU numbers?
I was at Rivian before. Lucids talent is on a different level. Atleast on powertrain teams. I was a staff engineer at rivian working on battery systems and coming to lucid opened a new standard in how much further lucid is.
Lucid's powertrain team has great results but I wouldn't say the same for other teams.
Can i get a referral for the powertrain/Battery team? Thanks
Both high risk but I would switch to Lucid for attractive career progression role . I heard lucid comp is lower than Rivian . One other point to think : chances of layoffs. Rivian just did , Lucid haven’t yet . So slightly higher chance of getting laid off at lucid ? May be someone from lucid shades lights on potential layoffs. I think lucid has better financial backing compared to Rivian . Saudis vs Amazon+ mutual funds .
The team I'm maybe going to is understaffed. Layoffs might not be a possibility but can't predict anything these days.
We're hiring like crazy these days, way too much work. On top of it we're also improving processes. We're super understaffed for the core teams at least. As far as you're in one of such teams, you're good.
If you're already at Rivian, you can make the switch to Lucid to get more automotive experience and exposure for your career progression. The rest is highly team dependent. So do your due diligence during interviews. You can stay if you're comfortable at Rivian. I believe the Saudis will back Lucid long-term with a multi-year time-horizon. Sovereign wealth funds think differently about their investments vs standard corporate, even a place like Amazon.
How are product development teams like powertrain , dynamics , chassis , Body ? Considering TPM role there . Any red flags ?
Not my department so I couldn't tell you tbh. Power train is the most innovative of the list from what I understand
Both sinking ships
