How many positions are there out there for people that focus mainly on coming up with ideas for their company?
Depends. I manage a group proving competitive and strategic intelligence. I'm not the only person in our company doing strategy. All depends on the focus of the company and the ability for higher ups to recognize they see the benefit of a non-cloistered perspective. Execs and VPs tend to suffer from group think in large orgs.

Plenty at Google. We mainly hire ex-mckinsey for those positions though.
I had no idea that this was a job. I do this kind of stuff just for fun and email ideas to companies in my spare time.
