Hey folks - I’m considering a software role at Argo AI. I have of course read all the posts on Blind and Glassdoor. But they are sparse here on Blind - what is the current opinion? Are they the real deal? Are certain teams in better shape than others? Worth leaving Google for? My impression from reading the reviews is that the people are really talented and the mission is plausible, but that WLB is a little rough and some folks at the west coast office feel isolated. What does Blind know about this company? Thanks in advance! TC 450k
WLB and west coast is isolated, that’s the vibe I got when I interviewed there in summer

Ignore the Glassdoor reviews written in the last month...can’t tell details but I think you will get a more accurate picture

I am at Argo. Some teams are at better shape than others. I work no more than 9 hours per day. Hardly on any weekends.

No, our team is doing really good. Last December I got promotion too. Working hard doesn't mean that you will be doing good
It really does dramatically depend on the team and manager. But that's like every company. Some teams have it easy and some are busting their ass. You will get lower TC for sure though.
On the TC don’t be so sure. You don’t know at what level OP is coming in at.
I'm assuming the RSUs have effectively no value. He'd have to be at least L7 or above to make that TC here.
WLB is definitely rough, but the scope you get to work on IMO makes up for it. Career progression also is super solid if you are good here. I was at big tech previously and really feel that we are so much more focused on delivering a real and compelling product than any of the teams I worked on at big tech co.

OP, feel free to DM. I'm in US. Bottom line, people working on the Autonomy side have it better IMO. If you're passionate about the product and desire to make impact then I believe Argo is positioned quite well in the industry. As far as west coast, we've all been remote for about a year now. We could probably have stronger management out there but you could say that about anywhere. I think people feel isolated just because CEO sits in Pittsburgh.

I just realized Cruise has 2.8 rating. OMG this is even lower than trash tier Amazon.
Lol our hr could not meet 2020 people goals. So like the real self-driving company we are, they took the 2020 goals and reduced it - made it the goal for 2021. No wonder it has shittier rating than Amazon.
Cruise sounds a lot worse than Argo from the reviews on here at least
