Asians - what are your thoughts on asian female white male ?
I interviewed for Pricing strategy two years ago for the P&O org which used to be part of corp strat (csda). Topics I got hit with: - Calculus (pricing specific probably) - Economics (npvs, surplus) - Game theory - Strategic Thinking (measuring, interpreting, and reacting to events) - Presentation (deck building) - Biz case (financials/sizing, less product) How to prep: - Know how to do the technical stuff quick (npvs, sizings, surplus, etc). This is actually to give more time to focus on strategic stuff in the interview. Don’t drag these out if you don’t have to. - For behavioral/strategic thinking, Tmo likes “principled” decisions. More about highlighting what you think the guiding principles that will sway your decision one way or the other. Although, best not to be married to an idea — they really appreciate flexibility, too.
thank you so much, have you done a whole consulting type of case for the interview
Yeah there were some of that flavor. They kind of setup a situation, start asking you questions on assessing the situation, then might move into some technicals (sizing, breakevens, NPVs...). For example: - setup is a credit card company. - first is macro assessment of the revenues and costs - where are the risks in this? - we might want to implement a different interest rate/policy/product what are the potential financial implication - how about behavioral? how does that change the finances - how might we tailor how we think by generalizing the potential behavioral/marketplace risks to larger strategy... I was surprised, they had a pretty rigorous process. I did 5 one hour sessions in a day with basically 5 separate directors.
