I had a phone interview with meta that included 2 coding and 15mins experience chat. I got a call today from Meta recruiter that they want me to interview for E5, which is obviously down leveling me. I am level 66 machine learning engineering manager ( i am ok being IC/manager for next role). The guy who interviewed me doesn’t have ML experience and was swe. Is this a norm to decide the level based on 15mins of chat with one person? There wasn’t any issues with coding. Any recommendations? How can I ask recruiter to either consider me for E6 or I won’t go forward (something like this). Have anyone experience negotiating the level after full round or it will be too late? Appreciate any advice. Would love to have Meta folks advice esp. Current TC: 370k Yoe: post doc + 11 yoe
Then dont accept the interview request and move on.
Tell them you’re the experience you bring on the table is a lot of lead experience, and you are looking for a role that has more impact and leadership, in-line with your current role.
