Hello community, I was currently laid off from my current company, but managed to get an offer from company X but with a big pay cut from my current salary. I’m still kept on 1 month of payroll by my current company because of warren act since I’m on visa. During this time, I had also interviewed many other companies and couple of them will be providing me with a final decision this coming week. Pls note: the offer is on the email and post my acceptance they will send me the contract officially. My issue: The hiring manager of company X has given me deadline to make my decision. I had already taken an extra week due to some family errands and do not want to cross the line more so it’s starts burning bridges. I’m really looking forward to the decision from the other company, as that will align with the base salary and will have no impact to my family. Can someone please help as I believe some of you must have been in this situation? Have you accepted the offer with a company but joined some other company? Is there a way to send an email to company Y, to speed up the process as I have an offer? Will that backfire on me? TC 300K #tech #offers #techcareer #layoffs #salarynegotiation #google #amazon #meta
Have done this once. The bridge was burnt
Say yes and leave if next offer money is significantly better. Who gives a fuck? Anyone who gets upset at you for $100k more is someone you didn't want to work with anyways. At $10-20k...eh maybe not worth
Reneging is much worse than asking the other company to expedite the offer. In my experience, recruiters expect you to tell them when you have an offer deadline. Please consider letting the other company know about your deadline and if that doesn’t work, then think about reneging.

Israel prevents Palestinians from gathering rainwater? Seems wrong on so many levels to me
Say yes to them. Later on if you get a better role, leave them and join whatever seems best to you. It’s not you who put the fire but them as they are hiring you for a huge pay cut. Good engineers don’t come cheap and you are choosing what’s best for you which is everyone’s right. Companies do that too when interviewing candidates. Stack racking from the start of the interview process. If you wanna get away easy, just say you got an offer from big tech like Google, OpenAI etc.. and TC and brand bump is huge to say no to them and join you. They would understand.
Yeah that sounds like a plan. Do you know if I say yes to receive the official contract, do I need to sign the offer immediately?
