I love Microsoft. I am originally from a not so great country, and I had access to computers because we could still run windows on old hardware that the rest of the world was done with. So I honestly love to have the opportunity to work for Microsoft and maybe contribute something back. But I have never got a reply on any of my applications! I am in Vancouver Canada and I know Microsoft office here is not that big, but they still post a lot of positions. Is there something specific about Microsoft that I am missing? Because I am getting replies from other companies, even these days! Some background: I gradated with a bachelor of computer science in 2022 from UBC. I had a busy last year of uni and only applied to Microsoft and grad schools. Back then I had thought FAANG jobs are for people a lot better than me, and I didn't have a lot of self-esteem being an immigrant. But I my had good grades. After graduation I started applying for more jobs. I got an offer from Coinbase which got rescinded. I got an offer from Amazon which was terminated shorty after I started because I am extremely lucky. I was also offered a place for Master of Phil in computer science from University of Cambridge, which I declined mostly because of my job offer from amazon and everything that was going on in Europe in 2022. I had interviews with Apple, Qualcomm, and many other smaller companies later in 2022 which mostly stopped hiring. I finally got an offer from a small software company in Vancouver, and I now have a little over a year of full time software engineering experience. I needed my one year of work experience for my permanent residency application, but now I am looking for another role, preferably in Microsoft. I update my resume based on the job description of Microsoft roles and just use that for my other applications. But again I don't get any reply from Microsoft but it works for other companies, and I am currently interviewing for TikTok. I would appreciate it if anyone have any advice on what I need to change to get an interview from Microsoft. I am very good at problem solving and I can hold myself in an interview, but the fact that I am not getting any reply is really hurting my confidence. Sorry for being long YOE: 1 TC: 70K CAD #engineering #software #Microsoft
Don’t come, you will not love it anymore

Consider this a blessing in disguise.
Why? Is it just because it pays less than other big ones?
You need to have a good connection who can refer you to Hm. I have worked there for 13 years and even after connections, I couldn’t get all the interviews I wanted. They get lots of applicants and also their recruiting is one of the worst .
You will hate it once they offer you peanuts :)
At least it would be more peanuts than my previous role! As the job market is very lovely right now, I would take any role that pays enough for basic living
Got it. Just saying if you passed Coinbase and Amazon, you can definitely get other offers. MSFT has similar bar as other companies but pays less. Don't fixate over one company. I also wanted to get in to MSFT back in college but now realize that there are many better companies out there. All the best :)
Microsoft recruiting is the worst. I have worked there many years and still hard to get recruiter to bite even pushing people i know inside the company. Although not looking to leave Meta. Wishing more luck your way.
Real answer: it's because the recruiting pipeline is absolutely mangled. Recruiters constantly come and go, postings randomly close and open so resumes are lost in the void, and general disorganization from hiring teams. Source: my own and friends' experience
