Hi everyone, Having seeing people were posting "advice needed posts", I also wanted to join the big group and send the inquiry to the community here. ----- To introduce myself a little bit: I am an environmental engineer, and I completed my undergrad and grad in Taiwan and Netherlands. Then, I started working in Taiwan in a water startup company for a year, an environmental consulting (WSP) company for 7 months, and a plastic manufacturing company for another year as a project engineer. Last year, I decided to terminate the long-distance relationship (7+ years as gf and now wife) and come meet with my wife, so I enrolled in an entrepreneurship program here in the US. I enjoyed staying with my wife and the study here, and now the study has been completed. After long wait of my work authorization, it finally came but another challenge has come too. I am struggling to find a position I may enjoy working with. I love everything related to potentially save the environment, so I chose studying environmental engineering and working as environmental engineer in those industry. With around 2.5 years of working, I am certain that I want to continue working in this field and want to join tech companies and learn some formality and strategize sustainability plan. But when I keep applying for jobs, I got more frustrated along the way. What would you do under this scenario? I sincerely want to know your thoughts. Thank you! #tech #environment
Maybe a tech company which is getting into net-zero/sustainability type initiatives? Salesforce has a net-zero cloud..
Thank you for replying. That is what I eager to step in, but I just started to know the importance of being referredā¦ if you donāt mind, may I DM you if I find any opening in salesforce? Thank you
Sure, send me the jobid, gdrive link to your CV pdf and 2/3 lines on why you are the best person for the job
Network. And start tangential. Perhaps a corporate real estate firm or facilities/building management firm that contracts out to tech companies is a good way to get your foot in the door. (Think JLL, CBRE, Cushman & Wakefield etc.)
Thank you for your advice. Networking is one thing I feel I didnāt do well in the USā¦ but I always tried to reach out to people on LinkedIn while it might not be tangential (Goos advice)
