2 PM YOE 3 YOE finance, MBA 2 SE YOE, CS undergrad Hi Blind, I keep getting feedback from managers and interviewers that I am strong in product sense, strategy, business mindset, etc. but weak in my technical skillset despite my CS/SE background and experience. Granted I have not coded in many years but I am knowledgable enough to understand and discuss technical questions with my dev team. what should be the expected level of technical knowledge? Should I be able to design the architecture of a product on my own? Technically proficient enough to contribute code if needed? I’m feeling a bit frustrated because the majority of my workdays are spent on nontechnical work like product strategy, product design, KPIs, facilitating meetings, gathering customer/sales feedback, etc. I usually leave the technical considerations to be led by my architects & devs. #pm #product #productmanager

I think you are on the right track, you don't need deep understanding of tech nor there is any need to code... You can discuss with your manager on their expectations of technical knowledge/contribution from you
