is to believe there is another Facebook, Google around the corner. betting who that is. turns out there no next FB, Google. it is not about the business. Uber has a sound business and Airbnb’s is legit. It is actually about the CEO. Is the CEO making nonsense and daydreaming? does the CEO have an engineering and computer science background? had he graduated from a reputable college such as Harvard or Stanford? that matter a lot . If the CEO graduated as a designer , the company is definitely certainly to be ruined. that’s what I learned in my career. I want to share to all. next time when you try to find a job, please check out the CEO first. if he talks sh*t, pass it. So, where should I go to find a sensible CEO that is not ruining his own company? (enginnering backround that understands computer science). Thanks!
So, you would have passed Apple in the 80s? Even though Woz was there?
Apple treat engineers notoriously bad . I think everyone knows it. If you are a designer , go for it
Secretive culture . Very pushy. Pay for your own water bottles and lunch. What good is Apple for some one , say worked at Google before?
What happened LOL
Is this about Airbnb? Weren’t you guys doing great before this whole corona fiasco 🤷♂️
Have you ever used the brand new, milestone “experience product”?
And have you noticed it just get rebranded as “adventures” that no one uses and even if some one used it, we lose money per trip?
Chesky can’t be that bad...
He is a good public speaker and salesman
And almost delivered nothing in the past 4 yrs. but pretends he has done every milestone and keeps touting new projects at every gathering .
Oh right, cause doing business is the primary learning from a CS background. Slipped my mind completely. Stupid stupid me 🤷🤷♂️
It’s other way around for tech comps, for someone with tech background, you can learn business aspect along the way and can build a successful company. But not if you have a business background
Knowing how to make website look good is important for early years. But after 10 years, it is really pathetic it’s still the only strength. The culture has been set, difficult to move
This is dumb. The CEOs you bash on built multi billion dollar companies. Maybe it's luck, or maybe you're the one full o shit
I am not sure how many “multi billion “ is left. wework is worth hundreds of billion you remember ?
Right. Companies grow, companies fall. It's cyclical, has always happened and will continue to happen. Success has no correlation to how technical a CEO is, in fact id say it's the opposite. A CEOs job is to provide a vision, clear direction & clarity in thought. Not the technical skills that you and I bring to the table
That's some high grade BS
Oh oh "Property managers who list accommodations on Airbnb are upset that the company overrode their policies in response to the coronavirus epidemic and allowed travelers to cancel their reservations and get full refunds."
I thought Airbnb solved a genuine problem and FB didn't and infact it broke democracies, spread misinformation and sold data to manipulate people. So what are we talking about here ?
FB can build a corona virus information center product in 3 days. Airbnb can’t do nothing in 3 days. Not because it’s engineers can’t, some of them are pretty good. It is because the design-headed leaders simply don’t know what to do
So why is fb not building it then.
