Hey Blind, My younger brother is 28 and has worked in ticket sales operations for an NFL football team the last 6-7 years. He has supported corporate sponsorships, season ticket renewals etc and he wants to make a transition to SaaS as a BDR. He understands he has to effectively “start over.” However everywhere he applies says he needs experience as an SDR or BDR which is untrue as no one gets hired out of school for either role with experience. He is smart and capable. I f#eel bad he’s been turned down as much as he has but I told him that’s part of the job. Anyone hiring on the bizdev side or have advice on getting a foot in the door? #SDR #BDR #CSM
I got into SaaS sales with a content marketing resume and no degree, it seems like his resume would be better suited. What do you think his problem is? Be more specific with what he's tried, what's worked, what hasn't, etc.
He made it to a final round at Dell, i prepped his role play and he sounded great and said he felt the interview went really well. Didn’t end up getting the job I assume because they wanted a cohort of new grads. Beyond coming from a different space I think age is a significant hurdle
Good for him! Final round at Dell's nothing to scoff at, you can try F500/BigTech for a while longer but if it doesn't work out your best bet is to pivot into a mid-size startup (200-600 employees). I imagine legacy tech like Dell looks for a very specific "type." Focus on getting him in any door just for 9-12 months
Really depends on the company and his interview skills and how he can sell his past experience. Plenty of sellers I know got a break from an obscure sales role into SaaS. DM me

Finally I give up, going back to India.
Bite the bullet and work as a BDR/SDR for 9-12 months.
He is trying. He knows he has to start there and is open to it. He has been told a number of times that he needs experience or they’re hiring new grads and is being deflated. I reminded him it’s part of the job. You get paid to get told no all day.
