Expecting an offer from TSMC for physical design role. How to do they offer in terms of base and joining bonus since they do not have stock offering in USA. Austin 7 years of work exp #hardware #interview #semiconductor
Similar to Intel maybe 10% less. Don't they also require many months of work in Taiwan?
Never work for Asian based companies
LMAO, native Korean here who is currently working in the US. Definitely true. Asian companies are stingier and WLB is just out of the window.
Can speak from similar experience, but different role. I would expect similar total compensation, it may be slightly higher or slightly lower, but they aren't offering much of a difference in pay. Base is similar, they make up for stock with the annual bonus which I was told averaged at least 25%. The annual bonus has a vesting schedule of 70% immediately and then 15%/15% the following 2 years. Negotiating did not result in any changes really worth mentioning and I didn't really consider the offer since it was pretty weak given the title/role. Given the pay and what I gathered from talking to others about the work, I think even Intel still offers better TC upside and career growth opportunities.
TC and diversity are not good in the bay area. Many people left during the pandemic.
Prepare to throw wlb out of the window.
