I’m in the construction group here and I’ve never heard of the company...
The answer above is quite ludicrous. The construction market itself is so fragmented and the area of construction productivity is relatively new. Procore and Oracle are both not easy to use products - ask any folks who actually work on the field. Their pricing models are actually unprofitable in the long run. PlanGrid has challenges but also has huge momentum and potential.
It looks to be an open field. Look at LinkedIn’s 50 top startups. Article just came out a few days ago and it explains what qualifies as “top startup.” There’s a construction productivity SW company listed there. Plangrid isn’t it but I think the field is wide open.
Are you referring to Katerra? Because they are not a "construction productivity SW" company. They are literally a construction company. Something like a modern contractor building condos and shit.
Any current thoughts in PlanGrid under Autodesk here? Interviewing now. Thanks!
PlanGrid is a great product but they are in a pretty tough spot to compete in that market. They don't have enough features to close big contractors. I believe they will get crushed by a combination of Procore becoming the incumbent challenger with a wide range of features, Oracle doubling down on Construction ERPs, Autodesk doubling down on BIM, Drawings and Construction PM, and then all the modern niche players like Building Connected and Rhumbix eating their other potential market opportunities. They stayed for too long just doing construction drawings and didn't capitalize on other opportunities within this industry. They probably will stay for the long but I don't see Plangrid becoming a multi-billion dollar company tbh.
