Technical Round 1 - Spoken with some person in Shenzhen Technical Round 2 - Spoken with some person in Shenzhen. A small technical exercise on learning an eccentric programming language on the fly and then creating a small program for gui visualisation. Very interesting type of evaluation. Both very similar process. Went through background experience and some technical random questions. Making sure there's no red flags or bs on resume. There wasn't a cultural fit round. I interviewed when they were on hiring frenzy in early 2022 so they skipped it. I received offer immediately but had to wait a little bit because I had several interviews going on. Once all my interview results came in, tried negotiating with Crypto.com as their total yearly salary offer was almost exact match with my current comp. 1. They rejected the negotiation number that I provided. (Which would be 10% more) of my current yearly total comp. 2. I was displeased and I accepted their initial offer any way (which was given the week before). They came back and said the HR TA Team in Singapore blocked the approval as they compared the salary with the "locals" and my compensation was way too high. They lowered the initial offer they gave by another 10%. So basically I would be downgraded if I move from my current company which is also based in Singapore. Ranting... HR Singapore Talent Acquisition Team is pathetic. It is already unprofessional to lower the initial offer despite it being verbal. And the reason they gave is so draconian without looking at my current compensation (I even gave the required documents did they bother to do calculations on their end?). Makes me wonder if the Singapore TA team is full of retired old people who came from the military. They're not looking for talented engineers to make a difference at the company. They're looking for head counts to fill in the sweatshop factory. That is why they would make compensation guidelines like that. :-) There's little data point about the WLB and culture of this company in public, I actually had very optimistic outlook of the company until I came across this interview experience. No thanks... Engineers who are not satisfied with your (current) salary should NOT look at Crypto.com, don't waste your time because they wouldn't be able to afford you. (No matter the circumstances even if you're top contributor or expat.) It's also likely quickly becoming a bureaucratic company. They grew from 1500+ employees in late 2020 to 4000+ in early 2022. Unless... you actually want to give it a shot, they wouldn't be flexible to upgrade your interviewed job title if you did well. So be sure to ask about that and get the salary range before you start the interview. I used something like https://www.nodeflair.com/jobs/crypto-com-senior-backend-developer-ruby-on-rails-golang-elixir-global-fintech-startup-53761 before but does not seem to be honoured. I got to know there is Senior SWE I and Senior SWE II at CDC. I got evaluated to Senior SWE I at CDC. (Do job titles really matter? You tell me.) Current: YOE - 8 TC - 190k/yr (Bonus + RSU) (Disclaimer: My RSU portion is unusually big because I made several big contributions in the past and got a "CEO" grant). #software #engineering #swe #cdc #cro #crypto.com #crypto #cdcinterview #crypto.com #interviewed #interviews
Feel sorry for you. From what I know, sometimes it would need approval from the upper unless justified, e.g. counter offer, very positive feedback. Each team have their own interview process and diff TA, if you are still interested, you can try for other teams. Or feel free to DM me for private discussion.
To clarify, it was not counter offer that was rejected. It was an original offer cdc provided and then said "oops we made a mistake, that was too high" and wanted to lower it again. Appreciate the gesture on the DM.
@crypto Can I send you my resume
This isn't an isolated case from what I hear. Know of a few other offers which are basically low balls ( tier 2/3 companies level), despite how they are hyped up on Blind.
