Title/Rank in Cadence
Can anyone tell me rank hierarchy at Cadence design systems (EDA software company). I'm seeing lots of employees with less than 5 years experience and job title as Principal engineer.
Don't get biased titles. Check the equivalent grade levels. Principal at candence is grade level of T4/,AE4 and equivalent to grade of 68 at Synopsys and grade 8 of Intel
Even grades are inflated in cadence compared to Synopsys
It's a sales company so those titles are skews and inflated . It has little meaning . Your real worth is how much the customer likes and depends on you . Having said that 5 years is principal
5 yrs is not principal at all... It is lead software developer.. minimum exp for principal is 7 yrs
Dude you are being dumped. As a new hire 5 is principal.
Principal at 5 years is not possible. Lead at max in whatever domain RD/PV/PE/AE.
I see one person in RnD being a principal only even with 14-15 yrs exp .. what's going wrong ?

There are multiple like this at T4/T5. You can assume them to be out of the rat race. They are enjoying the work life balance, and are content with what they are getting.
