Blind is an antisemitic cesspool
KLA is a bay area company developing tools for semiconductor inspection. Does anyone know about algorithms engineering and machine learning at KLA? Will this experience help me in finding new positions. TC: 205K YoE: 3
all semi cap companies are shit, go do machine learning in a diff industry (where you’ll get compensated better and a better quality of life)
Op, listen to this guy. KLA is absolute shit. Once you get in you’re never getting out, unless you’re let go. You do not learn any transferable skills. When people leave or are let go after 10 years, they take up jobs as junior engineers at other companies. Just to show you how Ass backwards we are, we still use python 2. Our engineers takes 6 months to write 10 lines of code, and they have been here for over a decade. Only come to KLA if you think you cannot do better.
Agree 100%. The best thing for my career was to be layed off from KLA during the 2008 recession.
find somewhere else, KLA is not a good choice, too mean to employees. Smart people are leaving.
There aren’t any smart people left. KLA is now filled with people managers.
What about the optics teams. It seems to be a core competency of the business?
You'll probably be asked to develop ML routines in Excel.
Really!!! Is it that bad?
@nsklaosh hope this helps:
KLA is a shit show. CEO gives awards to executives who come up with best idea to screw the employees.
How can u say that? Any experience?
We laid off majority of our new hires in less that a year.
Is there anyone who is happy with KLA?
I can personally guarantee you that every single good swe I have met wants to gtfo. The only good thing I can say is that KLA is a good place to put yourself from an immigration perspective. But at the end of the day you have to decide if the trade off between immigration benefits and stagnating skill sets and smelling landfill all day is worth it. Our swe do leetcode in office so that they gtfo, so we blocked the site.
Thanks for the info. Why are you still there?
I’ve heard the AI team at Applied Materials in the Bay Area has great people. But it sounds like there under paying them so they’re having a lot of turnover problems.
Applied generally has a good r&d division.
I think optics, systems, and mechanics engineering is ok here
You stay the heck away from KLA in Bay Area. Low pay, terrible culture. Ebeam software has the worst reputation for management. Inexperienced developers hired from HCL India have been promoted to director/manager positions. They go around with inflated egos as ‘Clean Software Evangelists’ and such.
I know KLA-Tencor as a semiconductor company, if I am not wrong. Maybe someone can give ideas about AI work there
