I’m a little upset after finding out people that have been working from home getting the vaccine because their company claims they are essential. It was similar to the issue at Stanford in the Bay Area where the deans were getting it and not the front line workers. Is this wrong? I’m hearing the BioMarin is getting priority because they are Pharma, they are giving priority to the managers that never show up to the office!
I have a friend who is an accountant for a hospital who got vaccinated priority because he works at a hospital... The prioritization has been imperfect to say the least.
Imagine vaccinating the whole staff, except Gary the accountant and Linda from HR
Ya I get it, better to just get it in people ASAP. Although in a perfect world he would have kept WFH and another friend's mom who is 30 years older and a nurse at the VA would have been vaccinated by now but his hospital is better politically connected to state government than hers.
People really need to chill with the vaccine hate. Do you think bezos and musk have got theirs? Do you think all the meathead at the superbowl got theirs too? Probably. Sure, some people end up jumping priority by a few weeks, because more verification = more delays and no one will benefit from bureaucratic red tape. In the end of the day it doesn’t matter, everyone gonna get vaccinated at some point. After healthcare workers and old people might as well just start vaccinating everyone, since verifying is only gonna get more convoluted.
We don't live in ldeal world, do we ?
You can tell OP is an individual contributor at work. Try to organize some events with a group of people, then think about organizing an event for a group of 300 million people. You do what works for most.
Millions of doses are unused because of this prioritization nonsense. There only two efficient ways to use up all the doses. 1. Go house to house with the Army administering doses. 2. Give the vaccine to every drug store and let them administer it to anyone who shows up. Option 2 has the advantage that entire city blocks and then neighborhoods and then cities would be vaccinated. We could then create physical bubbles where the residents could return to life as normal within their bubble. Open the economy. The advantage of option 2 is it costs the government nothing to distribute. The drug stores near the cost and make money from store traffic.
You wait your turn you'll be last in line. Find an angle and work the shit out of it.
China is prioritizing vaccinating everyone in the towns and cities with the most cases. That seems a lot more sensible. That vaccinates the people most likely to be exposed and slows the spread by boxing in the virus. Live in an area with high cases, get the vaccine. All you need is proof of address, which is harder to fake. Plus you need to be physically in that high case area. Live in an area with low cases? Wait.

People who are working in Bay Area with more than 300k salaries how happy are you?
They should just have people starting having 1 on 1 battles in the octagon and winner gets the vaccine. Loser gets sent to the back.
