Careem offer rescinds and layoffs
Is it true that Careem rescinded offers and started layoffs this week? Which offices and roles were affected? Was thinking of applying but wanted to confirm with Careem folks before proceeding...

Yesterday was mass layoff day, we lost people from all teams. Rumour has it at least 60 from tech alone

Very true, most teams lost about 20% headcount and offers even for top notch folks were rescinded
But are they really firing for performance reason? I see a very good sr. engineer from our team let go yesterday. Also till recently we (maps) were heavily understaffed.
I don't know why one comment was flagged by community & deleted but it's true that all engineering offers were rescinded. Careem though decided to pay 2 months salary as goodwill compensation. Although it really doesn't help those who left their existing job. On funny note they also announced multiple acquisitions despite layoff and offers getting rescinded and this is second time in last 3 years that they have done the layoff. I'm not sure if they have really good recruitment strategy. Holistically, Looks like they do treat their employees as labourers.
My offer was rescinded as well. Not sure why the previous comment was flagged. They did pay 2 months salary. But that is temporary and I am still looking for a job.
I had an offer rescinded after 7 interviews that lasted 3.5 months. Pissed.
