Got contacted by a recruiter from Citadel Securities for a quant researcher role. Cleared phone screen. I know, they could potentially pay way more than tech. But I'm a bit worried about WLB, reading reviews and hearing some rumors. How is WLB really? I have a friend who went from DeepMind to CitSec, and he says it's the same actually.
All finance jobs tend to have shit WLB. Really depends on the firm. Asset management, private banking, VC, and family offices offer much better balance. I can’t speak on the quant side, might be better than traditional FO?
From what I hear it’s team dependent but 40-50 hours a week is pretty common
Do you know which teams generally have better culture/wlb?
From what I heard seems like RTT, CES, and Trading ecosystem have good balances. There’s probably more, I just haven’t asked
You do realize that Citadel will be bankrupt by the end of the year right? There's no way they will be able afford covering their naked shorts. Can't imagine how WLB will be good when their future is uncertain
Citadel and CitSec are different companies.
Semantics. CitSec is the market maker arm while Citadel is the HF. Pointing out that they are different entities doesn't change the fact that OP is looking to join CitSec. Both are shady imo and future uncertain
