Databricks team what’s the internal sentiment around azure fabric ? Looks like a very similar offering to Databricks.
Working at databricks the one thing i’ve learnt is azure sucks. Azure does not scare me at all. Anyone who uses it will know how much it sucks.
You work for databricks sales?
Just try to build a real production service on Azure, and you will know why OP said this. :(
This is like Azure’s 3rd attempt to make a unified analytics product. Look at how well the first 2 went. Not worried at all
Synapse, ?, now this? The first two have been rubbish, I’d be happy if this one was useable
is it a new fashion for unisex clothing? is it better than micro fiber fabric?
Microsoft Fabric is frankly a validation of Databricks product strategy, architecture and lakehouse vision. While Fabric is one umbrella product name from naming perspective; that's what it is. You still need to integrate multiple products to build an end to end Data & AI solution. TL;DR: Fabric is still trying to solve for the past building Fabric. Databricks has already solved these problems for 1000s of customers at scale, and we are focused on solving for the future. On other note, MSFT may potentially lose ton of Synapse SQL Dollars to Databricks and Snowflake. Watch out for Onelake though.
I don't know. It validates Delta and the lakehouse which is good. But it kinda competes directly with us at the same time. In practice it's just synapse and powerbi stitched together, with a renamed adls gen 2 for reasons they only understand. Not sure what to think. We have the most mature product by miles, but it's still Microsoft so I wouldn't underestimate them.
Sounds really cool in my opinion. In data engineering space I worked with AWS and currently working with Azure. Azure is ahead in tools or low code integrations for data engineering work.
