I have received an offer from Bloomberg for Sr. Software Engineer and I am at the team matching phase with Datadog hoping to soon get an official offer for Software Engineer II. I didn't make it to Senior there :( Bloomberg (NY): 280k TC Datadog (NY or Boston): 240k (175k base + 65k stocks). This is not official yet, the recruiter said this would be the "max" he can say without further approval. I like Datadog more, but I am not sure how willing they are to match Bloomberg's numbers. Any ideas? TC: 120k ("Sr" Engineer at a startup in Europe) YOE: 4
In this environment I’d blindly take Bloomberg offer.
Try to get more pay out of Bloomberg since it’s NYC. It’s the most stable tech company and has good WLB.
Bloomberg which teams are good and which teams aren't? I joined Bloomberg not long ago.
Bloomberg if they give you a free license to the Bloomberg terminal
It's for a II position. I believe they would easily beat it if it were Senior.
Datadog
@OP - I'm interviewing with BB soon. Can I dm you for tips about the interview?
Absolutely
Hey better.com. How did the interview go? I have one coming up and would love to get some insights.
BB
Europe tc in European currency right? How much that is in USD? That's a good offer for Bloomberg. If the rule is still same 80% bonus is guaranteed first year. 60*80/100 =48k Which team at Bloomberg?
But not sure about culture and how other teams are, as I joined recently as well
Ask for more stock and maybe a sign on bonus at datadog. You might be able to get an extra 10-30k per year worth. Remember with NYC taxes the take home pay of 280 vs 265 isn’t that much different. At that point I would pick which company you like more and keep in mind downsides or upsides of ddog stock.
