unfortunatly i had an accident with payputs so while my insurance company didnt increase my premium( got accident forgiveness), but they wont issue me an umbrella policy( i didnt have one at time of accident). when i tried getting it from other lenders, they all quote me super high on auto policy and can only give the umbrella when i also take my auto policy from them, which is 3x the orice i pay for my current auto policy. Are there lenders that only offer umbrella as a standalone? i only got option from rli insuramce so far, anyone else that you recommend?
Umbrella usually requires that you have high auto liability coverage anyway (e.g. 500K combined single-limit), so it's expected that it would be more expensive even if you didn't have an accident.
I understand that it will be costly, I did increase my insurance limits to be 300:500, but now need an umbrella policy since current issurer won’t give me one
Lloyds if London will insure you if you are too risk for a normal broker.
No, umbrellas are supplemental insurance. They are there to cover your assests when you primary home and auto fall short. Your accident will mean higher insurance rates for several years, not sure there is a say around that, sorry.
