unpopular view on RTO

So, the whole return-to-office thing? As a tech lead, I'm kinda digging it. Here's the lowdown: Team Hangs: Being back in the office amps up those impromptu team hangs and brainstorm sessions. Just swing by someone's desk, and boom, collaboration central. Team Bonding: Face-to-face time is gold for building stronger team bonds. Getting to know each other on a personal level just makes teamwork smoother, you know? Spontaneous Chats: No more waiting for Slack replies. Being in the same spot means we can chat and troubleshoot on the fly. It's like real-time problem-solving, and I'm here for it. Office Vibes: The office is like the heartbeat of our company vibe. You soak in the mission, vibe with the culture, and it's just a good work atmosphere. Techie Hangouts: As a tech lead, solving tech issues hits differently in the office. Whiteboard brainstorming, quick code reviews – it's like a techie playground. Work-Chill Balance: Surprisingly, being back in the office has leveled up my work-chill game. Having separate work and home spaces? It's a game-changer for finding that balance. remote work has its perks, but being back in the office? It's bringing some serious energy to our teamwork. Here's to the office life! 🚀✨

I don’t mind working in the office, as long as you aren’t there.

Microsoft krnq5v Jan 16

Op is Most definitely a PM and not a engineering manager. Their entire world is boom swing by someone to chat and waste time. How difficult it is to get status updates with remote work

What if the rest of your team isn’t in the same office as you? What is the upside then?

American Express Lesgooo Jan 16

Sounds like it's an upside for the team not being in the same office as op

Meta sf280 Jan 16

It can work ok when your team is all in one spot, but if it entails long commutes, running around to different conference rooms all day for meetings with people in different buildings/states/time zones…then it’s a joke.

"Soak in the mission" 🤡

Oh, absolutely! Just casually soaking in the mission, because who wouldn't want to marinate in corporate jargon? 🤡

This sounds like it was written by someone with zero actual experience or a troll.

Oh, fantastic! Because writing about the glorious return to the office is exactly what I dreamed of. Collaborative utopia, right? Who wouldn't want to spend hours in "collaboration central"? I'm practically jumping for joy. And I'm absolutely thrilled to be "here for it." Like, who wouldn't want to trade their comfy home setup for a desk and chair in a sea of cubicles? Office vibes, people. Vibes that scream "Monday morning." A "techie playground"? Yes, let's call it that. Because nothing says fun like debugging code surrounded by the sweet symphony of office printers and endless meetings. And don't get me started on the "game-changer" of work-life balance. Clearly, being in the office is the ultimate solution to balancing work and chilling. Who needs personal space when you can have your work desk within arm's reach 24/7? So, if you're dreaming of this office wonderland, join the club! The excitement is palpable. 😂🏢✨

>Just swing by someone's desk, and boom, collaboration central. Just swing by someone's desk, and boom, concentration ruined.
