Many (not all) Amazonians seem to defend or become insecure the moment any topic on toxicity at Amazon surfaces. I’ve seen this on Blind, in-person group discussions and on social forums as well. I’d like to give benefit of doubt to all, but some of these very folks that defended Amazon, leave citing work culture issues at some point in future. What’s up with this, just curious. Are all these toxicity topics an exaggeration? Or is it really insecurity that makes folks defensive? I’ve no personal thing against Amazon and I’m not a believer in judging one working place over the other without solid evidence. I’m just putting out a not so novel observation of mine. TC: 340K
Are you karma/points/likes whoring? I haven't seen anyone simp on Amazon and defend the negative work culture?
Not really. You haven’t, I have seen myself, hence the question.
I’ve seen them simp on Amazon *and* defend the culture by mentioning it only hardens people. It’s like they presume people who’ve been backstabbed get right back up and move on with their lives like it never happened lol.
Not every team is toxic. Anywhere.
I don’t think so. Why we outsiders know better than people working there? Don’t be misled by vocal minority
There is a lot of outsiders who used to work there. Amazon has to be the leader in total attrition over last 10 years.
They know they can't change it, so the only option is to defend. Don't think many are in denial, they see what's going on.
If they didn’t like working at Amazon they can absolutely change that 🙄
Are you saying:"They don't have to work here"? That's ok approach for 100 people body shop, but not for 1.3M ppl corporation. Amazon should be more responsible.
Not all teams at Amazon are toxic.
I “defend” Amazon by saying I have a good experience. My wlb is good, my pay is far better than it was in any other company I worked before, I find the work interesting and I find that I have grown heavily as an engineer working here. That’s simply the truth. Why does it trigger you that someone has a positive experience and voices it?
Thanks for sharing. It doesn’t trigger me, I’m rather curious to know the differences better, if you re-read me question. This is the type of insecurity and defensiveness I observe when such topic comes up.
I experienced worse prior to coming to Amazon so I see a lot more positives than maybe someone who it’s their first job. But no doubt there are some very toxic leaders out there who go unchecked. Bad apples that are not addressed, can create a bad barrel.
Anytime I've said I work < 40 hrs and have great wlb I get comments like HR spotted 👆 or pip incoming 😂 I know not to take Blind seriously, but some people do and get defensive about it. I enjoy playing off Blinds bias though for easy likes, gotta keep feeding the TC badge 😈
I hear ya! I used to be a TC, but deleted my app as I was wasting my time on it only to realize I can’t retrieve my password. Keep up the TC work 👍
Short and simple, Yes.
