Thinking of upgrading home wifi. Current one is a modem router combo at 600 Mbps. I have Comcast at home that offers 1Gbps. New combo I m thinking is an ARRIS S33 $199 and eero pro 6E wifi6 mesh $399. I live in a 3000 sqft house. Primary use : Netflix, WHF, IoT, 35 devices at home Pour in your suggestions TC 120k #tech
Yeah this a game changer. Plus the modem router combo you're likely renting from Comcast (?) is probably costing you $10/mo so you'd get it back in 5 years anyway
I have a netgear at home. Docsis 3.0 upto 600 mbps. Modem router combo
35 devices on 600mbs??? Fiber, wifi6, spend a few hundred on a mesh network.
You can do it a lot cheaper if you want to.
Suggestions pls
Just buy one or two of those Asus wifi 6 routers for $80 If you buy a second one, run an Ethernet to the other end or use Powerline adapter if it’s too much a pain in the ass. Get the cheapest DOCSIS 3.1 you can find.
You can do it for 200-300 if you find right spots... 3000sqft isnt that much to cover
But ubiquiti stuff, you will like it.
I would also consider the total plot size of your house, not just built area/heated area. It will be very helpful while lounging in the porch or listening to music while doing any yard work. Would recommend getting 2 Amplify aliens, currently on sale at bestbjy
eero is garbage. No control other than the network name. You don't choose 2.4 or 5ghz networks for your devices. No guest network with limited access for security. Device doesn't switch access points the way they advertise. It'll hold shit connection to one AP all over the house. I bought a set and returned them after 3 days. Switched to a Ubiquiti UDM and later added a nano HD WAP as a repeater. It's been great.
Buy refurbished routers and mesh setups. There isn't much difference in new and old ones if you consider speed
Yes
