Lacework worth it?

I recently landed a genuine offer from Lacework. Base and target bonus was pretty good. Its 250k cash + options. But I am concerned about the stock options. I hear horror stories on blind about wlb and how super-political it has gotten. Some Lacework’s own employees on here don’t have a lot of good things to say. Is Lacework competitive in cybersecurity space or loosing out to competitors like Wiz, Palo Alto Networks, Crowdstrike, Snyk etc? Churn is also one thing that concerns me. In Dec/Jan the two of the interviewers who interviewed me are no longer there. Linkedin shows they are back to Meta. I connected with them on LinkedIn and they have really bad things to say like how culture is horrible and company is going to die in 2-3 years. I mean how can a company with such astronomical funding i.e. close to $2billion fail or be on a path to failure?? One of the current employee pointed me to Forrester report which says Lacework is last among its competitors. https://www.crowdstrike.com/resources/reports/the-forrester-wave-cloud-workload-security-q1-2024/ I have other interviews with AWS, Microsoft and Zscaler. Almost close to getting an offer from Zscaler; just one behavioral with Dir is pending. But lacework wants me to move fast and sign. Should I just sign Lacework as I find cash comp pretty competitive? TC: 190k Lacework TC: 425k #faang #swe #tech #amazon #aws #meta #google #microsoft #lacework #apple #h1b

How?

LW is bleeding people. It’s one of the unhappiest groups of people you’ll find. You will deeply regret coming to LW - it is a failing company.

Which group are we talking about?

From toxicity point of view, PAN and other recent competitions of lacework are equally bad if not worse. That said, lacework growth has stagnated. The tech team is solid. It is mainly a exec team issue right now which will go away soon. Things come and go in phases. Right now, lacework is not doing the best and probably a good time to join with the hope of a big potential return.. but also, super risky in case it fails in turning around the ship. The industry is looking at them with 🍿 Career wise, you won't go wrong if you decide to join them.. from the pov stock options, it is the best to value it at 0 worst case and do your calculations. You can ask for more cash for options if that is your concern and then it is a win win !

The exec team will go away soon? There’s absolutely no indication of that. They’ve been talking about a turnaround for 2 years now. It’s the exact same story every single time - we’re just a quarter or 2 away from the big turnaround. If you want to be looking for another job again in 6 months - give it a shot. Even if it were true that the exec team is on their way out, that means massive upheaval. Good luck getting anything done with the massive uncertainty rolling all through the company.

You seem angry here :) Let's try to help the op rather than venting. We already have an internal blind room to do that. There is no certainty that the company will spiral down to 0 or may rise up again. If you have that knowledge, then I take my words back. The only data point we have is that the revenue growth has stagnated for now (also not true as we are actually growing, barely though). There are very few 10 year old companies where the employees are in love with their exec team

Lacework glb63xwmz Feb 2

The reason they posted on Blind is to get information they can’t get from doing a Google search or asking the recruiter. Your talking points are the same our exec team uses, in fact your word choice looks exceptionally familiar. I think what you’re perceiving as anger is simply disagreement. Add that to the list of things that are quite…. reminiscent.

If it’s lacework vs FAANG, would choose the FAANG. ZScaler COO stepped down today and is rumored to go to Wiz. More ZS talent will leave with him. For cash of 240k imo Lacework is the better option

Lacework is unpredictable and leadership is failing at all levels.

I know some hardworking and capable friends of mine who were ruthlessly fired at LW with 0 day notice, though they gave the company their blood and sweat. If you don’t gel with the execs they just get rid of you. Its another thing that the execs get fired too. Just look at how many times the VP of engg got replaced. The investors/board got over greedy during pandemic boom and basically destroyed the ship by treating their own crew like shit. I feel bad for my ex-lw friends coz now even the stock options they hold are not worth much.

Just sell it already and be done with it.
