I used to be considered a liberal, now I am leaning conservative. What happend?
Im wondering if there are avenues to find small or new startups that are looking for SWEs with an understanding that they may already have a full time position and looking for an additional commitment of lets say 20 hours/wk my thinking is that I already code 20+ hours/wk outside of my full-time position, so why not shift that effort into a startup that could potentially pay off big if it takes off. would finding an opportunity like this be only possible from connections and word-of-mouth, or is there a platform that exists for this?
nobody wants the IP risk
That’s the opposite of a startup job.
Yes, we do. They are contract positions, but we have devs doing up to 20 hours a week. Many other startups use contract/part-time labor as well to fill gaps.
Figure out your niche. Sounds like you are passionate about helping and enjoy coding. Once you identify a worthwhile cause, search, meet up, and network. Like Varian said there are lot of opportunities to freelance and help others out. DM if you want to get more ideas.
You have to network. But, I am looking for a frontend engineer to help me with a side project if you’re interested
Never have seen such a thing and don’t think it will ever be A startup is not going to look for a part time worker
