To keep matters simple 1. I was working in a team that was fully remote and I could basically live anywhere/move anywhere and I am currently in location X (location X has a qualcomm office and there's no state tax here). Location X is a US location. 2. I switched teams to another team as a lateral move (no change in compensation or title). The new team has a potentially better fit for my skills with better prospects and more interesting projects The caveat is that I am supposed to move to San Diego ASAP. I can move but I am reluctant to move due to personal reasons. Also keeping my personal reasons aside, moving to SD at the same compensation is a financial loss. What are my options here? You're getting 245k at 3 YOE at QCOM? Some of my friends have 2x your YOE (all at QCOM) & are around 170k in SD. What domain are you in?

Feel free to DM me. But not sure why you're so secretive. Your situation is not unique at all. People who were in your situation took 1 of the options you listed according to their personal situations.
Why the hell even switch teams with that caveat. The team isn’t better for you if it requires you to live somewhere you don’t want to.
No option mate either take the role or let somebody else take it
