Is $1k/month possible as indie iOS developer?

I'm having fun working through swiftui tutorials, but am curious on what kind of side income this could produce. I know that writing the right app at the right time with the right marketing matters. Second question, what online resources should I know about to be involved with the iOS community and more knowledgeable about the business side of app development? Why $1k/month? I'd like to take extended time off and have my expenses covered except for healthcare. This type of work seems like it would allow for travel by working on apps a few hours at night. Maybe I'm better off taking a 3 month contract gig at robert half international once a year? Either way iOS development looks like a fun hobby. Thanks Current TC:$415k as backend SRE Future TC:$105k (interest income) + unknown_ios_money

The public iOS developer slack and discord. Slack seems to be a little higher quality with some people seen to be actual professional iOS SWEs. Also working on indie app. Would love to monetize. Good luck πŸ‘

Thanks. I'll look for those channels. The subreddit I found is just okay.

You probably can generate any reasonable income as soon as you a) select category where people are ready to pay for a subscription b) are able to craft a delightful experience. Also, c) have some starter money to spend on user acquisition and testing hypotheses. For example, I've launched gpt chatbot app earlier this year but was a bit too late to the market and my layoff happened almost at the same time so I decided not to spend what I planned on traffic. As for the business side, I would recommend something like appmagic (screenshot attached) - the tool to discover how much revenue/downloads apps get and what ads they buy.
