I’m considering accepting an offer with Etsy and I wanted to see if the blind fam has some insight on what’s the good, what’s the bad and what’s the ugly to expect at the company. Total offered comp ~400K YOE: 10 Currently not working so no current tc to report. #tech #etsy #etsyhiring
What’s the role
level?
Pros, product team has greater influence than typical at MSFT, good WLB, fully remote, stable and good profitability. Cons, CPO has a weak track record, many wouldn't know how to drive BRDs to save their lives, some short term thinking. Like everywhere, certain initiatives are less susceptible to the above than others.
Thanks for the response! I’ve almost given up on this post. Do you have any concrete advice for people considering joining based on what you know?
Blind isn't very active inside Etsy, which may be a positive indicator about overall culture. For staff, you should meet with the CPO and VP to form an opinion about the failure modes that matter to you. Your closest partners outside Product will be the engineering managers and director, it's important to assess them too. Some strong initiatives do exist. Also new / underdeveloped that have potential. The question is whether the culture of your initiative can offer what you personally need to be successful.
Did you end up joining? Also, is this for Product?
